Cockroaches have existed almost unchanged for more than 250 million years.
They are pests! – spreading filth and germs; transmitting diseases like asthma, food poisoning and gastroenteritis; producing odorous secretions which can affect the flavour of food; and creates a social stigma especially for public establishments.
Cockroaches are nocturnal, i.e. they are active in the dark, exhibit thigmotactic movement or a tendency to run or walk along the wall, prefer warm and moist habitat close to food sources and are omnivorous – they eat everything!
An integrated approach to cockroach control includes –
1) Sanitation and the elimination of food sources
2) Structural repairs which will prevent entry of cockroaches to the premises
3) Application of insecticide
